Installing your Archworks arch takes just a few minutes, even if this is your first time doing it. There are only four pieces in the kit: matching frames for each side of the arch and two keystone accents.
Before installing the arch, frame the doorway opening. Add angles at the top corners of the frame. The size of the angle piece will depend on the size of the door opening and the size of the Archworks arch. Please refer to the framing specifications for the arch models. Attach drywall and cut to fit the opening. Position the first side frame. Carefully slide the top of the frame over the drywall at the top of the opening. Rest the base of the frame on the floor, away from the door opening. At this point, the frame is nearly vertical.
Tilt the frame back, sliding it over the drywall. The top of the frame will probably touch the top of the opening. If the frame is too tight against the wall, reposition the frame base to achieve a looser fit.
Repeat the process for the other side of the frame. Note that the frames are tilted away from each other, and the tops of the frames do not touch.
Straighten one of the side frames to a vertical position, moving it so it is snug against the door opening.
Straighten the other side. For best results, this side should be nearly vertical, so the top of the frame is not quite touching the top of the other frame.
Spread glue on the ends of the frame and the spline. Adjust the tops of the two side frames so they interlock. Push them together.
Shim the bottoms of the frames to the height of the finished floor. Check both sides with a level to ensure they are vertical. Check that the tops of the frames are joined snugly, and wipe off any excess glue. With a finish nailer, attach the frames to the wall by nailing through the casings into the door frame. Do not nail through the jamb.
Apply glue to the edges of the keystone accents, and fit them into position.
